stamping

Stamping is a forming and processing method that applies external force to sheets, strips, pipes and profiles by means of presses and dies to cause plastic deformation or separation to obtain workpieces (stampings) of desired shape and size. Stamping and forging are both plastic processing (or pressure processing), collectively called forging. The stamped blanks are mainly hot-rolled and cold-rolled steel sheets and strips. 60-70% of the world’s steel products are sheets, most of which are stamped into finished products. The body, chassis, fuel tank, radiator sheet of the car, the steam drum of the boiler, the shell of the container, the iron core silicon steel sheet of the motor and electrical appliances, etc. are all stamped. There are also a large number of stamping parts in instruments, household appliances, bicycles, office machinery, living utensils and other products.

What is stamping processing?

Stamping processing is the production technology of product parts with a certain shape, size and performance by means of the power of conventional or special stamping equipment, so that the sheet metal is directly subjected to deformation force in the mold and deformed. Sheet material, mold and equipment are the three elements of stamping processing. According to the stamping temperature, it is divided into hot stamping and cold stamping. The former is suitable for sheet metal processing with high deformation resistance and poor plasticity; the latter is performed at room temperature and is a commonly used stamping method for thin sheets. It is one of the main methods of metal plastic working (or press working), and also belongs to material forming engineering technology.

what is samping dies?

The die used for stamping is called a stamping die, abbreviated as a die. A die is a special tool for batch processing of materials (metal or non-metal) into the required punching parts. Dies are very important in stamping. Without a die that meets the requirements, it is difficult to carry out mass stamping production; without an advanced die, advanced stamping technology cannot be achieved. Stamping process and dies, stamping equipment and stamping materials constitute the three elements of stamping processing, and stamping parts can be obtained only when they are combined with each other.

Stamping processing features

Compared with castings and forgings, stamping parts are thin, uniform, light and strong. Stamping can produce workpieces with ribs, ribs, undulations or flanging that are difficult to manufacture by other methods to improve their rigidity. Due to the use of precision molds, the accuracy of the workpiece can reach micron level, and the repeatability is high and the specifications are consistent, and holes, bosses, etc. can be punched out. Cold stampings are generally no longer machined, or require only a small amount of machining. The accuracy and surface state of hot stamping parts are lower than those of cold stamping parts, but they are still better than castings and forgings, and the amount of machining is less.
Stamping is an efficient production method. Using compound molds, especially multi-station progressive molds, can complete multiple stamping processes on one press (single-station or multi-station), and realize uncoiling and straightening of strips. Fully automatic production from flat and blanking to forming and finishing. The production efficiency is high, the labor conditions are good, and the production cost is low. Generally, hundreds of pieces can be produced per minute. Compared with other methods of mechanical processing and plastic processing, stamping has many unique advantages in terms of technology and economy. The main performance is as follows.
(1) The production efficiency of stamping processing is high, the operation is convenient, and it is easy to realize mechanization and automation. This is because stamping relies on die and stamping equipment to complete the processing. The number of strokes of ordinary presses can reach dozens of times per minute, and the high-speed pressure can reach hundreds or even thousands of times per minute. May get a punch.
(2) During stamping, since the die ensures the size and shape accuracy of the stamping parts, and generally does not damage the surface quality of the stamping parts, and the life of the die is generally long, the stamping quality is stable, the interchangeability is good, and it has the “exactly the same”. Characteristics.
(3) Stamping can process parts with a wide range of sizes and complex shapes, such as the second hand of a clock, as large as an automobile longitudinal beam, a cover, etc., plus the cold deformation hardening effect of the material during stamping, the strength of stamping and stiffness is high.
(4) Stamping generally does not generate chips and scraps, consumes less material, and does not require other heating equipment, so it is a material-saving and energy-saving processing method, and the cost of stamping parts is low.

Stamping wide application

Stamping is widely used in various fields of the national economy. For example, there are stamping processes in aerospace, aviation, military industry, machinery, agricultural machinery, electronics, information, railways, post and telecommunications, transportation, chemicals, medical equipment, household appliances and light industry. Not only is it used by the entire industry, but everyone is directly connected to stamping products. There are many large, medium and small stamping parts on planes, trains, automobiles and tractors. The body, frame and rim of the car are all stamped and processed. According to relevant survey statistics, 80% of bicycles, sewing machines and watches are stamped parts; 90% of TV sets, tape recorders, and cameras are stamped parts; there are also food metal cans, steel boilers, enamel bowls and stainless steel tableware. All of them are stamped products using molds; even the hardware of computers cannot lack stamping parts.
